I loved everything about this book, apart from when they were scared of the Groke. My favourite character is Snufkin! I find him interesting and green is also my favourite colour.

In this book there was a tiny Hedgehog. There were two funny people called Thingthumy and Bob. I liked this book because it has lots of adventures in it. It was a bit sad when Snuffkin went away. I read this book all by myself at night in bed and really enjoyed it.

Snufkin turns up in lots of the Moomin books so don’t worry! I’m so pleased you enjoyed FF Moomintroll – let me know if you’d like to borrow another Moomin story (I’ve got several in the 6CM classroom). Mr Milne

Tove Jansson’s Moomin books are my absolute favourite. I love the weird and wonderful assortment of creatures and their strange, beautiful and often quite silly adventures and pastimes. If you liked Finn Family Moomintroll (originally called The Magician’s Hat), then another Moomin book that you could try is Comet in Moominland. Full of extraordinary goings on, the main storyline centres on the Earth (and Moominvalley) almost being hit by a passing comet. The book was published in 1946, just after the use of nuclear weapons on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and some people think the story is an allegory of nuclear war. Or, stranger still, try Moominland in Midwinter. Moomintroll wakes up during his winter hibernation and explores the silent, snow-covered Moomin valley and its strange and unfriendly inhabitants, ending with a beautiful description of the winter ice breaking up and the coming of spring. The Exploits of Moominpappa (or Moominpappa’s Memoirs) is great fun. I could go on. Basically, what I’m saying is this: spend some time reading Tove Jansson’s Moomin books!
