A grisly 300-year-old legend, unexplained death, supernatural hounds, greed, inheritance, deception, escaped convicts, mystery warnings, swirling mists, deadly peat bogs – this all adds up to one of Sherlock Holmes’ great and famous cases! I enjoy this book all the more because I’ve stayed on Dartmoor many, many times and can picture the moorland settings.
