This is a very wandering around story, because it is full of strange places. It has got fun places and scary places and so it is very up and down. I like it because it is funny.

I thought this book was about going away and monsters. I didn’t like where he got stuck on the tree. I liked the place where they were all waiting and where he was moving mountains.

The reason why I love this book is because it teaches you that even though life can be scary we can be brave enough to make the very most of ourselves.

  28. Mr Milne says:

Dr Suess has written several of the most popular children’s books of all time and they are loved around the world. I don’t know why it is, but I’ve never quite liked them as I feel I should. That said, if I had to pick one to read, it would be ‘Oh, the places you’ll go’, which gives a good message. But can I secretly say that I think I prefer the more laid back advice of the Cheshire Cat in Alice in Wonderland (although the sentiments in the two books are perhaps not really so very different if you think about it):
“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?’
‘That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,’ said the Cat.
‘I don’t much care where -‘ said Alice.
‘Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,’ said the Cat. ‘- so long as I get SOMEWHERE,’ Alice added as an explanation.
‘Oh, you’re sure to do that,’ said the Cat, ‘if you only walk long enough.”
