This is a fun, stylish and cleverly written series, with interesting characters who wind up in the most mind-boggling mysteries. It has stunning illustrations to go with the thrilling plot and the action that takes place in the book. They must apprehend the notorious cat burglar with a clever plan but can they do it… I recommend this book for all ages. If you read and enjoy the story then you might like the rest of the series.

Ottoline is a great book because it has loads of things you can play with in each book like glasses and I always spend ages looking at the postcards from her Mum and Dad. I feel a bit sorry for her that she lives by herself. The bit that I find hilarious is when you get to see the big map of her house and all the people who do jobs for her like plumping pillows, changing light bulbs and giving her meals that her Mummy and Daddy should be doing. The Yellow Cat is a very mean cat. I think she should be caught by the cops. I always like choosing a Dog from the Yellow Cat’s hideout as they are all quite cool and just chilling! She is always up for an adventure. She lives in the Pepperpot building and all the buildings around her have strange names and shapes. I would recommend all of the Ottoline books for you to read.

  15. rmaccallumhall says:

Ottoline is funny because of the little hairy monster. Ottoline likes solving hard problems; she thinks about them while brushing the monster’s hair. It is also good because there’s a good mystery and Ottoline has to wear a disguise. It is exciting so far and I think it’s going to get more exciting.

  16. ablackburncave says:

  24. Mr Milne says:

Some former students of mine have made these comments that I very much like: “I really like the fact that animals can talk and the madness of Ottoline’s house . When I had a fringe my dad and sister would call me Mr Monroe”; “I really like Ottoline and the Yellow Cat because of the crazy weird world they live in. My favourite character is definitely Mr Munroe because he’s so interesting and he is a bit like my brother”; “Ottoline is very funny. I really like Mr Monroe and I would like to have him as a best friend.”

  25. Mr Milne says:

Ottoline is a wonderfully eccentric young girl who wears odd shoes and likes jumping in puddles and solving tricky mysteries. She has a very lovable and hairy best friend called Mr Munroe, who Ottoline’s parents found in a bog in Norway. Animals talk in Ottoline’s magical world. In this book, there’s a talking bear from Canada living behind the washing machines in the basement of the tower block where Ottoline lives (stealing sock and other clothes!) – because, we’re told, it decided to go on holiday rather than hibernate! (You learn this from the annotations next to one of the many hundreds of Chris Riddell’s interesting sketches that fill the book.) Ottoline’s parents send friendly and cheerful postcards from time to time, but we’re left to wonder why they have left their young daughter to live alone in an expensive tower block. For herself, Ottoline says that she doesn’t mind too much because she’s got Mr Munroe for company.

Ottoline and the Yellow Cat is a good book because they are figuring out what the mystery is and how to solve it. When they are solving the mystery Ottoline and her “pet”, known as spy buddy, are really sneaky. In the end they work it out.
