  16. Mr Milne says:

Timeless and immortal fable set in the Indian jungle. Mowgli grows up and learns the laws of the jungle among the grey wolves of the Seeonee Wolf Bank, Bagheera (the black panther), Baloo (the sloth bear), Kaa (the huge and powerful rock python), Shere Khan (the man-eating Bengal tiger), Tabaqui (the interfering and mischievous Golden Jackal) and the degenerate tribes of monkey (the Bandar-log). The incantations, sounds and rhythms of the jungle give this book a heartbeat and beauty – and the book reads almost as a poem. Don’t imagine that you can understand or know The Jungle Book by watching one of the films!
